About SURF.

SURF is the cooperative in which Dutch education and research institutions jointly procure digital services. Within SURF, universities, universities of applied sciences, vocational institutions, academic hospitals, and research institutions collaborate on the procurement and development of digital services and innovations.

Students and staff from the affiliated institutions can purchase hardware and software licenses at favorable prices through SURFmarket, the web store of SURF.


Better User Experience, Better Product Content.

With the implementation of ConnectingTheDots PIM, SURF had ambitious goals. The main objective was to drastically improve the quality of product information for users across all SURF channels. In the existing system, it was challenging to keep information up-to-date, accurate, and complete.


Content management also needed improvement. Entering product information with the existing software was too labor-intensive. Errors in the information occurred too frequently, caused by the user experience during input, which also delayed the availability of new products and services.


Better Collaboration.

Improving collaboration between different teams was another key goal of this project. At SURF, various people and teams are involved daily in managing product information. With ConnectingTheDots PIM, we were able to streamline this process significantly, and SURF gained better insight into the progress of changes and adjustments, as well as the quality of product content.


Result: All Goals Achieved.

At the end of this project, SURF had achieved all its goals. The experience improved for everyone—users, employees, and management. Product content is of consistently high quality across all channels, and teams and management finally have control over which content is where and what adjustments still need to be made. ConnectingTheDots PIM played a key role in realizing these ambitious goals.
